A gossipy and delicious novel

Ever wonder just how a fashion designer starts up a company, how one succeeds and how one just dissapears out of sight. Fashion Babylon, a novel by Imogen Edwards-Jones and Anonymous, is a delicious and scandalously up front book that reveals some of the most well kept secrets in the biz. A definite MUST-READ !

Lost Luxury
THE FIFTIES NEWW LOOK INSPIRATION

A big message for spring 2010 going foreward into fall/winter 2010/2011 is the 1950s silhouette for dresses, that of the new look. It's the perfect answer to the new feminism movement we have been noticing for the few seasons past and will be a sure winner. Not to forget the new 'Sex and the City' coming out, this will only give more steam to the fashion train's direction...foreward!

Search for the futur

While nostalgia may not be everyone's thing, a more futuristic aproach will be noticed, but with a twist. At the dawn of the new millenium, we saw an offering of silver and metallics in stores, a nod if you will at the astronauts of the 60s and the hopes of that era for a brand new future. While today's consumer has a rather dim world view of our future here on planet Earth as we aproach the 2010 decade, ten years later we are noticing a more gothic aproach to the future as seen here with Gareth Pugh. While Goth fashion is all about death and decay, it's message will ring out loud and clear in certain mindsets for the coming years. Not to forget the media and it's influence on individuals, with the reported Mayan calender and it's message of doom for the year 2012, the upcoming movie of the same name 2012, the melting polar ice caps, the U.S. bailout scandals, the new deseases appearing on our doorsteps almost every year if not sooner... people are intoxicated with pending doom and will respond accordingly, especially the younger market, not having the experience of the boomers that this too shall pass.
WOODSTOCK at 40
Well it's been said, what goes around comes around. And todays fashions for spring 2010 will highlight some of the best of the 70s. When one is considering consumer behaviour, or humans for that matter, one tends to become nostalgic in the face of unhappiness. With all this talk of global warming, terrorist threats, human indifference, we seem to long for days when the world seemed a happier place. You should expect to see a wide array of nostalgia in stores.
